Stuttering

  • Stuttering is a complex and variable communication disorder where the speaker experiences an underlying feeling of “being stuck”. This can cause significant tension and frustration while communicating, and can decrease one’s confidence interacting in academic and social situations.

  • The goal of stuttering therapy is to empower the communicator. We will work to decrease tension and to increase confidence and ease while communicating, even while stuttering. Intervention will focus on education about speaking and stuttering, exploration of the client’s beliefs and attitudes about stuttering, and activities geared toward decreasing tension and stress while speaking.
